Mercedes Schlapp is not the White House's advisor on strategic communications. It's not easy for Mercedes Schlapp as the advisor to strategic communications for the White House. But through it all Schlapp has stayed focussed on the task in hand and has worked closely with White House's political and legislative affairs teams and policy shops, as well with the larger communications team to coordinate policy rollouts. As of now she's been focusing on various issues including school safety as well as opioid abuse. There isn't much interaction with the media in the job she has. The media attention she received in March was when she was named one of the contenders to replace Hope Hicks. Mercedes Schlapp does not have an easy job as White House strategic communication adviser. The White House's strategic communications adviser must deal with multiple legal disputes which could affect the communication strategy of the administration along with Cabinet secretaries who are involved in their own scandals. Schlapp, however, has never lost focus on her mission. She is in close contact in conjunction with White House political affairs and the legislative team and policy shops as well as with the overall communications department to coordinate the policy roll-out. Her focus has been on issues such as school safety, opioids and infrastructure, along with trade. Schlapp hasn't dealt with reporters frequently in her current job. But she drew a burst of attention in March after her name was suggested as a potential replacement Hope Hicks as communications director. The battle has been bitter. Schlapp's ally Tony Sayegh and an opponent with the same name, Tony, started jousting with each other on the news. Schlapp told the Washington Examiner that she spoke with Sayegh about the recent article that was negative concerning him.
